3R =D

The authorities had been implementing the 3R concept for a lot of years for now..
but it seems that most people are still not very IN to this tingy although it has been here for so long..
other countries (whose mentality are more developed) have been conducting it quite effectively..
their rubbish are thrown accordingly to the colour of the rubbish bins, paper bags are used instead of plastic bags, recycling projects are more strict, laws are enforced, people follow the laws, bla bla bla..
but in malaysia, it is still not that 'popular' among the rakyats and the ah-peks to recycle (especially the ah-peks of course)
so, as the base, the foundation of the country, we, the Rakyats of malaysia, need to start it first =D
we can actually save a lot of trees by applying the 3R concept on paper usage..
we use boxes, newspapers, books, make aeroplanes, samans, etc almost everyday..

to start off with, we can apply the 3R in our daily life - parking coupons
we are actually wasting a lot of processing fee n trees in order to produce the one booklet above..
and it is asking us to THROW INTO DUSTBIN!!
WHY NOT RECYCLE?!?!??!?!

oh well.. mentally challenged people always had difficulties in activating their brain cells..

ok.. the question is, how do we apply 3R on parking coupons??

1st - REUSE
reuse as many times as possible (as long as the coupon condition is good)
1 coupon usually can be reused up to 5 times, maybe more!
which means, u can actually save up to 5 times the trees u cut down!
aint that great? =D

2nd - REDUCE
ALWAYS put a parking coupon..
dont let those ppl walk around looking for offenders to land their 'saman' on..
with that, we can reduce the amount of 'samans' issued (which saves trees also ^^)
and dont 4gt, the 'saman' is issued in 2 copies, 1 for u, another for themselves..
so again, u save up TWICE the amount of trees needed for the 'saman'..

oh ya! of course, u MUST put ur parking coupon INSIDE your car..
not outside..
cz, once it rains, ur coupon will kena - tat means 1 coupon wasted..
then, if ur coupon kena then the 'saman kia' cnt read ur coupon, he may issue u a 'saman' - 2 pieces of saman wasted..
of course la, this is also to prevent them from accusing u of re-using the coupons xD
then, last but not least, RECYCLE!
whenever a coupon is used until it has reached its limitation, DONT THROW IT FOR GOD's SAKE!!
RECYCLE! =D
and, if u reli the soi kena 'saman', recycle it too! (if u return the saman to the saman collector, they sure throw away also)
just find a blue bin or pile up ur unwanted papers n giv it to the van driver who shouts 'OLD NEWSPAPER!!!!!!!!!! SURAT KHABAR LAMA!!!!!!!!!! SHIU KIU BOH ZHUA!!!!!!!!!!!!!' at ur area =D

some facts -

happy 3R-ing =D

stay tuned for post on National Service - modules 'textbook' revealed!! preview of what u r goin to learn during NS ^^

AS most of u are concerned about a new link i had just inserted recently in my 'FEATURED' links, it seems that most ppl are still not aware of that COOL~~~ website....

very the easy to find...

just that the contents are QUITE different~
well, u'll noe when u browse thru that web..

here's an example of one of the contents in that web..
simply enter the web, at the search bracket, type in 'MALAYSIA'....
and it will tell you EVERYTHING about malaysia....... ^^
just a short "synopsis" of wat's in the content 'malaysia'.........

Essentially the penis of Asia, which is located to the north of their cousins who live on an even smaller island Singapore, Malaysia (also known as Bolehland) is a young nation of diverse cultures and races such as F1 Formula-1 and Nascar. The timezone of Malaysia is unique because it follows the system of +1/+2 PMT (Predetermined Meeting Time) which is 1 or 2 hours later than PMT. Most foreigners have difficulty adjusting to this new timezone as they tend to show up 1 or 2 hours earlier than their local counterparts. The nation is moving forward with a vision towards becoming a developed nation by the year 2020, 3030, 4040 or whatever catchy number.

ETHNIC COMPOSITION IN MALAYSIA

The Minister of Education of course denies any favouring towards the Malays but everyone knows that if you are non-Malay, the job of marking your paper will be outsourced to another country, usually Zaire, Chile, Guatemala, Imaginationland, and Krakozhia(The place where Tom Hanks came from in the movie "The Terminal").

Still, the Malays are generous enough to do extra badly in the exams and thus end up with marks lower than the Chinese or Indians. However, most Malays regret neglecting their education and not being able to make good money and so they usually take on jobs that allow them to feel the money in their hands for a little while. Examples are toll booth attendants, fast food restaurant cashiers, and those people that sit in front of public toilets to collect 20 cents per toilet entry, plus another 20 cents for toilet paper.

MALAYSIAN ECONOMY

Malaysia exports a lot of rubber to countries around the world. All thanks to the hard work of the heroic rubber tappers summoning up courage to face the occasional 'pontianak' or 'momok' frights as well as countless attacks from cobras, Polar Bears and Hamsters.

Another source of income is from pirates. There are usually two types of pirates in Malaysia: "Yarrr ye mateys! Get 'dem DVDs out an sell'em befere those darned police send us and our jolly ship ta' Davy Jones Locker! Arrrr!", or "Avast there! Thar she bee... a fyne ship from Hong Kong laden wit sweet Sony DVD players! Board her and seize tha booty! Start thee Yamaha engines and load thee canons, ya scurvy mongrels! Yarrr!"

The main Malaysian export is brains which is sourced from today's brightest minds of Malaysian youth. Brains are exported to countries such as UK, the US and Australia through institutions called private colleges. This is a serious problem for Bolehland because while this ensures that Malaysia would be free of the undeserving immigrant Chinese, it also makes Malaysian graduates more stupid in average. Studies show that by the year 2019, Malaysian graduates will be unable to differentiate between their left and right hand.

The main Malaysian import is China porn, which has high demand by Malaysian buyers in pasar malams. The local porn market has seen increased production in recent years, with titles such as 'Couple muda buat di tandas', 'Seks panas tepi pantai', 'Datuk rogol anak perempuan' frequently on sale at various pasar malams.

PLKN (some ppl would reli love this section =D so i have extracted the whole text from PLKN ^^)

Malaysia is the only country with its own style of National Service which is not base on military conscripting. Yet, there are at least 1 death every year due to this program. Malaysia Boleh.

PLKN is military training and sex education in a single package. Each year there is at least one person who got his cherry popped (anally violated to be exact). During the course the trainer will often rape the trainee or vice versa. The males are always the victim - why the girls are somehow spared is unknown.

The Malaysian National Service has been arranged into several modules:

  1. Physical Module: Produce military teams to invade another country. 1st target Communist Singapore, then Indonesia, and finally the evil USA. Malaysians are trained to use the keris (traditional Malay knife used for carving bananas) in combat. C4 detonating course is personally supervised by Najib.
  2. Character Building Module: Build up character to cheat tourists, bribe people, snatch handbags, Mat Rempit, spit on the floor, lead UMNO, etc...
  3. Gay Education Module: Malaysia's attempt to halt the raping and turn it into a formal training session. This only applies to male dorm when it is night time. The only activity they can do is Gay Party!
  4. Lesbian Education Module: Similar program as above but for the girls.
  5. Community Service Module: Where the trainees are treated as slaves for cleaning sewage, moving large concrete to a construction site, pushing stones, burn rubbish, campaign for UMNO and loiter around the village showing off their uniforms.
  6. Suicide Bombing Module: Cancelled due to lack of volunteers from non-Muslim trainees.

Accidents

If you happen to see a car hit a motorcycle, quickly stop your car and stand there to watch to see whether the biker died or still alive. Make sure you join the crowd, watch and talk nonesense as if you care and willing to help. Don't call an ambulance - they won't arrive in time and besides it's not that you really care.

Those who won't stop their cars can always slow down and irritate the rest of the drivers behind you. You may stare at the dying victims and say "Waaa nowadays very dangerous, drivers are so careless..." and then drive away with no sense of sympathy whatsoever. You MUST do this, otherwise you are not Malaysian.

Last but not least make sure you copy down the number plates for 4D - the more serious the accident the better. The best number is from a car who hit a pig and crashed into a muddy hole filled with angry crocodiles and exploded killing a masjid imam nearby. This ensures 100% win in a lottery.

Winning elections in Malaysia (one of the coolest part!)

In Bolehland, winning elections is a no-brainer. Anyone can become a prominent YB(Yang Bodoh/Yang Babi) these days - even a university reject (don't believe me, ask Najis Tong Rosak).

To gain Malay votes, you just have to promise them first-class citizen treatment. As for the Chinese promise them lots of money, business opportunities and good fortune. Then for the Indians promise you won't demolish Hindu temples anymore.

For the Orang Asli...err...who cares. Their votes are too small to make a difference, but if you insist then just promise the usual stuff - more transport and infrastructure into their jungles, more hospitals, etc. However you should NOT promise them first class citizen treatment - or the Malays will jail you under ISA for treason.

Of course, as in all elections around the world, you can forget about fulfilling your promise once you won, so that later you can promise the same thing again!!Can meh? Of course we can. Malaysia Boleh Mah!

Language Dillema

Following a policy reversal of teaching Math and Science in English, nation-wide SPM test scores for rural areas increased by 0.005%, which experts claim has the same significance as Najib playing with C4 in Malaysia or a Malay raping his daughter. The remaining students refused to sit for the exam due to the ridiculous questions such as in Add Math, "Cuba cari jawapan untuk x dalam persamaan x+1=0. Kalau tak boleh tak apa, kertas jawapan tanda Bumiputera dah okay, tambah 60 markah". Universities outside the country refused to accept any SPM candidates and the Malaysian university ranking plummeted another 20 places, behind Zimbabwe, Nigeria and Somalia.

Free Online Tips & Techniques

  • What's worst is the police are most probably never going to get around to justice because they only believe in corruption and collecting "kopi-o money" which is basically a sum from RM50-RM3000 that will get you off any offense, even murder!
  • Aiyoh guys, why y'all want to work? What for, work so hard? Frankly speaking, to become rich in Malaysia, you should try and spend your time looking for a Datuk, and then you tell him that you want the project 'Keep Kepong Clean Campaign' or 'Keep Our Rivers Clean Campaign', etc. Then make sure the project costs 80 million: 10% goes to actual work, 35 million to the Datuk, the rest you keep. Remember, quickly buy property in Australia, and get your PR there.
  • Important: Make sure the 'Keep Clean Campaign' fails- deliberately fails-so that you can always have more campaigns and more opportunities.
  • Hottest Job: Custom officer (please apply now).
  • Play Golf: You can meet a lot of rich Datuks, ministers and businessmen in the golf course. Don't waste time playing other type of sports especially football, sepaktakraw, swimming, etc. Datuks are obese and weak so they only play golf. So if you don't play golf sorry lah, you have no future. (it seems that BOON BOON has a bright future then =D)
  • Become an UMNOputra and expect handouts from your clique.

The UnBiased Government of Malaysia (some very sad cases... or should i say, MOST...if the facts provided are TRUTH)

(10) 7% is the percentage of Chinese government servants in the entire government (in 2004); a drop from 30% in 1960.

(14) 100 big companies set up, owned and managed by Chinese Malaysians were taken over by government, and later managed by Malays since 1970s, e.g. UTC, UMBC, MISC, etc.

(18) 8000 billion ringgit is the total amount the government channeled to Malay pockets through ASB, ASN, MARA, privatization of government agencies, Tabung Haji etc, through NEP over a 34 years period.

(19) 48 Chinese primary schools closed down from 1968 - 2000.

(20) 144 Indian primary schools closed down from 1968 - 2000.

(22) 2.5% is government budget for Chinese primary schools. Indian schools got only 1%, Malay schools got 96.5%.

(23) While a Chinese parent with RM1000 salary (monthly) cannot get school textbook loan, a Malay parent with RM2000 salary is eligible.

(28) 128 STPM Chinese top students could not get into the course to which they aspired, i.e. Medicine (in 2004).

(30) 50 cases in which Chinese and Indian Malaysians are beaten up in the National Service program in 2003.

(31) 25% of the Malaysian population was Chinese in 2004, a drop from 45% in 1957.

(32) 7% of the Malaysian population is Indian (2004), a drop from 12% in 1957.

(33) 2 million Chinese Malaysians have emigrated in the past 40 years.

(34) 0.5 million Indian Malaysians have emigrated overseas.

(35) 3 millions Indonesians have migrated to Malaysia and become Malaysian citizens with Bumis status.

41) 0 temples/churches were built for each housing estate. But every housing estate got at least one mosque/surau built.

(42) 3000 mosques/surau were built in all housing estates throughout Malaysia since 1970. No temples or churches are required to be built in housing estates.

(43) 1 Catholic church in Shah Alam took 20 years to apply to have a building constructed. But they were told by Malay authority that it must look like a factory and not like a church. As of 2004 the application still have not been approved.

(47) 10 times, at least, Malays (especially Umno) had threatened to massacre the Chinese Malaysians using May 13, since 1969.

(48) 20 constituencies won by DAP would not get funds from the government to develop. These Chinese majority constituencies would be the last to be developed.

(49) 100 constituencies (parliaments and states) had been racially re-delineated so Chinese votes were diluted for Chinese candidates. This is one of the main reasons why DAP candidates have consistently lost in elections since the 1970s.

(52) 20 reported cases whereby Malay ambulance attendances treated Chinese patients inhumanely, and Malay government hospital staffs purposely delayed attending to Chinese patients in 2003. Unreported cases may be 200.

(53) 50 cases each year whereby Chinese, especially Chinese youths, are being beaten up by Malay youths in public places. Police reports may be checked to verify this, provided the police took the report, otherwise there will be no record.

(54) 20 cases every year whereby Chinese drivers who accidentally knocked down Malays were seriously assaulted or killed by Malays.

(55) 12% is what ASB/ASN got per annum while banks fixed deposits are only about 3.5% per annum.

Subject: Kita semua Pendatang (We are all immigrants) - Syed Imran
The following is an excellent article, translated in full from http://kudaranggi.blogspot.com/2008/09/antara-pendatang-dan-penumpang.html original post in Malay, 'Antara pendatang dan penumpang'.
Syed Imran is an Arab-Malaysian born in Penang, Malaysia, ex-Bernama journalist (1971-1998) and former press secretary to Minister in PM's Department. Syed Imran provides a Bangsa Malaysia voice in the nation-wide furore which had erupted as a result of Ahmad Ismail's irresponsible, opportunist and racist reference of Malaysian Chinese as 'pendatang' and 'penumpang'.
Syed Imran blogged:
Monday, September 08, 2008 Antara pendatang dan penumpang
Antara pendatang dan penumpang
(Between immigrants and squatters)
At first, I was reluctant to comment on the hoo-hah that resulted from the statements made by the UMNO division head of Bukit Bendera, Penang named Ahmad bin Ismail. Whether what he said about Malaysian of Chinese descent is true or false is not the question, because the issue is already spreading and the situation flaring up.
Unless the issue is addressed carefully, conscientiously and wisely, it can be exploited by those who wish to see this nation crumble, as well as by foreign powers. In this era of the borderless world and instantaneous international coverage via electronic media, whatever happens within a nation cannot be hidden or denied.
The main issue that was brought up by Ahmad Ismail involves the question of 'squatting'; that is, that Malaysians of Chinese descent are squatters in this nation. He later clarified that this refers to the pre-Merdeka (pre-Malayan Independence) era. Nevertheless, the sensitivities of Chinese Malaysians were offended.
I do not know Ahmad Ismail personally, but I am quite close to Allahyarham, his brother Abdul Rahim Ismail, owner of the Rahim Construction Company which was once quite renown as the best Bumiputra-owned construction firm in Penang. I do not know what has happened with the company since Abdul Rahim passed away.
Personally, I (Syed Imran) disagree with what Ahmad Ismail claims for several reasons.
To me, almost 90 percent of Malaysians, especially those in the Peninsular, are immigrants and all of us are actually squatting on God's land. We are not permanent owners, but merely squatting.
As an example, I myself am descended from immigrants who squatted on this blessed land. My grandparents on my father's side immigrated from Mecca (in Saudi Arabia ) and Brunei , whereas my maternal grandparents came from Hadhramut in Yemen . We are immigrants and squatters just like almost all of this nation's citizens, especially those in Penang.
As for Ahmad Ismail, he too comes from an immigrant family and is squatting in this nation. Ahmad Ismail cannot deny the fact that his grandparents are immigrants from India who came in search of a better, more comfortable life in this blessed land.
Prime Minister Abdullah bin Ahmad is also included in the same category. His maternal grandfather was an immigrant from the Guangdong province in China . To cut a long story short, Pak Lah's grandfather and Allahyarhamah Kailan's father known as Hassan Salleh or Hah Su Chiang was an immigrant. He immigrated to Malaya from Guangdong (Kwangtung) in the mid 19th-century and settled in Bayan Lepas as a rubber planter, paddy farmer and later a diamond trader.
Deputy Prime Minister Najib Tun Razak also comes from an immigrant family, that is from Sulawesi in Indonesia, or to be simply he is a Bugis. Meanwhile, Hishamuddin Hussein cannot deny from his Turkish bloodline.
The father of former PM Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad are also immigrants from Kerala, India while Almarhum Tunku Abul Rahman's mother originated from Siam (Thailand).
Even the Malay Sultanate of Malacca was founded by an immigrant from Sumatra (in Indonesia) named Parameswara, a prince or noble of the Hindu religion.
In the history of the Malay sultanates, we find that some were founded by immigrants from Bugis and others by immigrants from Hadhramut (in Yemen) and Minangkabau (in Indonesia ).
Almost all Malays here originated from outside Malaya, but are recognized as being of 'Malay ethnicity' by the Federal Constitution. We are 'Malays according to Constitutional definition', that is of the religion of Islam, practising Malay customs and speaking the Malay language. Unfortunately, the Malay language was killed by the Malay people themselves (UMNO) when it was renamed 'Bahasa Malaysia' (Malaysian language).
Thus Arabs like Syed Hamid Albar and myself, Acehnese like Sanusi Junid, Indians like Kader Sheikh Fadzir and Nor Mohamed Yakcop, Bugis like Najib, Minangkabau like Rais Yatim, Javanese like Mohamad Rahmat and others who originate from Madura (Indonesia), Boyan (Bawean in Indonesia), Siam, Burma, Yunnan (China) and the southern Phillipines are recognized as 'Malay' with little hassle.
They are accepted as Malay people regardless of whether they speak Malay in the home or not, for example the Arab-speaking Arab, the Javanese-speaking Javanese, the Minangkabau-speaking Minangkabau and the Tamil-speaking Mamak (Indian Muslim).
The aforementioned languages are not Malay languages, and if judged from the viewpoint of the Federal Constitution, their speakers cannot be accepted or recognized as part of the Malay race. Nevertheless, due to political factors and concerns, they are all accepted as Malays and Bumiputras.
Therefore, it is unfair to point fingers at the Chinese who are immigrants just the same as Arabs, Indians, Acehnese, Minangkabau, Batak, Mandailing, Javanese, Madurese and Bugis are squatters in this country. We cannot deny that a large number of the ancestors of the Chinese immigrated to this country during the time of the Malay Sultanate of Malacca and the Malay sultanates of Kedah, Terengganu and Kelantan when Francis Light conned the Sultan of Kedah into giving him Penang Island in 1786.
We are immigrants who live squatting in this country. The groups which truly can be recognized as indigenous or 'bumiputra' are those we know as Negrito, Jakun, Semang, Jahut, Orang Laut, Orang Darat, Senoi and the other Orang Asli groups who still live in these lands.
We must not forget the contributions and sacrifices of all races and sub-races in developing Malaysia, be it in economy, society, security and most important of all, alliance and unity. We all pay taxes and do so without regard to race or descent, whether immigrant or squatter.
We are all Malaysians.

Malaysia's 'worst in the world' taxis tarnish national image

The ads promoting "Malaysia: Truly Asia" aim to welcome visitors with a warm smile to a prosperous and modern nation, so the taxi fleet branded "the worst in the world" can come as a bit of a shock.

Even the locals are not spared the shabby service of unkempt and hostile drivers behind the wheels of decrepit vehicles who refuse to use the meter, overcharge and pick-and-choose which destinations they will travel to.

At the popular KLCC mall under Kuala Lumpur's iconic Petronas Twin Towers is a typical scene, as a gang of cabbies negotiate with a young Norwegian couple just metres from a signboard warning against "taxi touts".

"Flat rate, flat rate, no metre," one driver insists as the tourists try to find a cab to take them to their hotel, less than two kilometres (1.2 miles) away.

Anxious to escape the baking heat, they agree to pay 25 ringgit (7.22 dollars) for a trip that would have cost less than three ringgit on the meter.

"Is it expensive? We don't know, we thought it is normal here," said the woman as they piled in with their shopping bags.

More frequent visitors, however, are vocal in their criticism and say that aggressive and unprofessional drivers are tarnishing the nation's image as a squeaky clean and hospitable destination.

"I first visited Malaysia in 2006 and I was impressed by everything I saw except for the worst taxi service I have endured," said Kabir Dali, an Indian tourist waiting in vain for a metered taxi at another mall.

"I paid a whopping 260 ringgit (74 dollars) from the Kuala Lumpur International Airport to town and was later told that was twice the proper amount."

Complaints about taxis are common in many countries, but in Malaysia it has escalated to an outpouring of frustration, on blog sites and in letters to newspapers.

In a survey by the local magazine The Expat, some 200 foreigners from 30 countries rated Malaysia the worst among 23 countries in terms of taxi quality, courtesy, availability and expertise.

The respondents lashed the fleet as "a source of national shame" and "a serious threat to tourists -- rude bullies and extortionists".

Salvation is in sight though, as a number of smaller, up-scale operators enter the market to provide a more expensive but quality taxi service for frustrated visitors and locals.

The uniformed drivers, behind the wheels of smart new multi-purpose vehicles and sedans, switch on the meter as a matter of course and do not refuse destinations -- surprising and delighting commuters in the capital.

Abdul Razak, operations manager for Dubai-based Citicab which launched here in January, said that even in poorer nations such as Thailand and Indonesia, taxis are smarter and the drivers far more courteous.

"I would say it is the worst in this region, undoubtedly. I have travelled to all countries in this region and our company operates taxis in many parts of the world. The situation here is the worst I have seen," he told AFP.

"The vehicles are in shabby condition, the driver will take you if he likes your face -- that is, if he agrees with where you want to go for the price he insists on."

The government has called on taxi firms to lift their standards, but various campaigns have achieved little, and many blame the lack of enforcement on rampant corruption in the police and bureaucracy.

"It is difficult for the roads and traffic department to take stern action," said a security officer at one city mall as he watched the touts swoop.

"Taxi operators and the company which hold the licences are all linked to some politician or another," he said. "Drivers here are ruthless because they are unchecked by authorities who are almost non-existent."

John Koldowski, from the Pacific Asia Travel Association, said that "less than desirable" taxi drivers have an outsize impact on a nation's image.

"The first contact a tourist gets with locals is often during airport transits to hotels and it creates a very, very strong first impression, either be good or bad," he said.

"Authorities certainly need to do their jobs and act upon any complaints strongly, quickly and visibly."

Again, this is MALAYSIA.. Cuti-Cuti Malaysia

1. There are only 365 days in a year. Take away 104 days of Saturdays and Sundays weekends and we have left 261 working days. But Malaysia is multi-religious and we must not work during Raya, Chinese New Year and Deepavali. But we must also not work on Wesak Day, Taipusam, Christmas, New Year, Federal Territory Day, various Muslim holy days and I do not know what else.

2. But we must not work on by-election polling day also. Then there is the Agong's Birthday and the birthdays of all the Sultans and Governors.

3. We seem to find more reason for not working. If the holiday falls on a weekend, then have a long vacation beginning the day before Saturday and the day after Sunday - four days in all.

4. I love all these. Kuala Lumpur is cleaner when people leave the city for balik kampong on Raya and Chinese New Year. It is exhilarating to drive on streets which are almost deserted.

5. But I ask myself are people like me, a pensioner being paid and not working? Or is the country on automatic - administrating itself? Or is it that there really is not much work to do that we can close up for one-third of the year?

6. We are still a developing country. Developing requires work. Rich developed countries can afford not to work. August holidays see the cities like Paris and London bereft of traffic.

7. I believe, but I may be wrong, that when you are trying to catch up with someone running ahead of you, you must run faster than him. We have this great ambition to become a developed country. If we move slower than our objective can we catch up? I think we cannot.

8. A developed country today and a developed country in 2020 is not the same. In 2020 it will be far more advanced and richer than in 2008. The developed status is not static. It is moving.

9. Even if it seem to be growing slowly percentage-wise, but its one percent is bigger than our 5 or 6 percent. Our base is lower. To catch up we must really grow faster.

10. Can we grow faster by not working? I think not.

11. Lets look at the implication of having holidays. If workers have to work on holidays they have to be paid twice their daily wage. If they work beyond working hours they have to be paid four times their wages. And many industries just cannot stop operating.

12. All these add up to higher cost of production and therefore we will be less competitive. For a trading nation which depends on exporting goods, raw material and services, the cost of our exports is important. We will not be competitive especially against low-wage countries. But not to worry. The Government will make us competitive by withdrawing subsidies and giving them back again under different headings in the budget or off-budget.

13. Its a bit early but I would like to wish everyone Happy Hari Raya. Please drive slowly. We want you to come back after a very relaxing 4 - 5 days holiday. Do not worry about unfinished work. It can take care of itself.

P.S. I think the Government and the private sector should consider retreats. It's not a holiday of course but comes very close to a holiday. Besides you can become a savvy agriculturist.

Dear Tun,

I agree with you that all these “cutis” ‘add up to higher cost of production and therefore we will be less competitive. For a trading nation which depends on exporting goods, raw material and services, the cost of our exports is important. We will not be competitive especially against low-wage countries.’

However, I think that the real reasons are as follows:

1. I think there are too many Islamic holidays.

2. I think there are too many hours wasted on Fridays.

3. I think there is too much wasted working hours during Ramadan.

Muslims should sacrifice time and money (take unpaid leave hours; now that is a Jihad!) to pray and not expect Chinese businesses and tax payers (mainly non-Muslims) to subsidise them so that they can be "good" Muslims. I think that is “haram”, but heh, what do I know? I am just a stupid, irrelevant Dhimmi!

Hi Tun,
im really agree with ur opinion tun that now we have a lot of holiday and also a lot of time to be waste. even during the work time, still a lot of people rather waste their time by lepak at warung or mamak stall for 1-2 hours juz for laughing and sembang2..we know that if we want to achieve our mission2020, not just increase the quantity or time to work but we also had to increase our QUALITY too..

Selamat Berbuka and Selamat hari Raya Tun..

Good afternoon to you Tun & Family,

God take good care of Tun:),

I couldn't agree more.

Malaysia Based Multi races country has to many holidays. Is not productive. Isn't the government to do some thing about the bank sectors, as we need to wait 48 hrs before our local check can be clear, or outstation check needs more than a week?? Even though on holidays, isn't 24 banking to serve it's meaning

Custom clearance, compare to our neigbour country, we are far far behind. Can government do something about it?? I believe this is the reason why investor prefered to have their hub in our neighbour country.

It takes a lot of effort for the improvement, but "Rakyat" is prepare to work for the best interest of individual & Malaysia.

Malaysia Boleh!!!

Hey Dr M,

"Do not worry about unfinished work. It can take care of itself."

Well i laughed. That contradicted everything you said earlier. Hah.

And this:

"The Government will make us competitive by withdrawing subsidies and giving them back again under different headings in the budget or off-budget."

Wha? Two sarcastic comments in one blog? I haven't seen that in a while. Good one. =p

Honestly i had to re-read that line a few times to make sense out of it.

YAB Tun,

As always, you nailed it to the ground.

I admit,I am guilty of this lethargic attitude myself. However, can I suggest that this malaise is due to the whole state of the nation?? beginning from the very top ?

Most times now, as a citizen you feel tired, cheated and helpless - with rising cost, no sense of pride in the nation, and sick of the sleazy and stupid leaders that we somehow have managed to trust our fate in their hands....

and so you ask yourself this question...Why on earth do I work so hard when all these 'morons' are reaping the benefit?. Meanwhile, you are working and sweating your energy and missing family time...knowing full well these morons will ruin all of it at the end of the day....

What for you ask yurself....

This is just passing the buck I know dear Tun...but in the overall picture does it not make sense tht many probably feel the same like I do??

Dear Tun,

Great piece. I welcome the sarcasm. When I went to the Loaf in Langkawi in 2006 , I asked your staff "pukul berapa masuk, kena punch in tak ?" hehe..I was not at all suprised to learn their actual working hours. I think developed countries can afford to work 5 days a week because they do not have many, many holidays like ours..We need to have minimum working hours per month. If we do not reach the hours, our pay should be deducted..This way productivity will be maintained. Well.. I don't think anyone will agree with me.

the above are comments.. really make sense.. however.. there are some who doesnt WAKE UP and still wants more hols???? below are few examples...

Hi Tun,

Oh my after reading this your comment I've made a simple culculation to my holidays and leaves per year...

224 days = working days/yr
141 days = leaves + sick leaves + 16 Sept(suggested by DSAI) and by-election (PP)

I love to work in Malaysia as Malaysian(even my expatriate friends is delighted)... I'll be spending 1/4 yr for holidays.

Please politician's add more holidays so I can earn $$ and work less and thanks for this people I got :) big bonus... + OT... OMG. bling..bling..

Malaysia Boleh

Salam Tun !
Why bother to catch up with the so called developed countries ? Progress means we just have to be better than previously.
The country will progress with strong leadership.Hard work means nothing if our leadership is flip flop. As it is,we are not going anywhere.Maybe we need more rests and holidays to reflect.
Selamat Hari Raya.Maaf Zahir & Batin.

MOREOVER!!! there are some who go against HIS post!! check it out~

Tun, If we have meritocracy then we don't have to work long hours. It's just becos our civil servants are 3rd class and we will never catch up even if we work 7 days a week.We must have quality not quantity.Blame it on you becos in your 22years you staff all the government agencies and departments with low grade civil servants. As a result today we face this problems. Also our institutions of higer learning are churning out low grade work force. This are all the contributors of what happen to our declining work force.Malaysia Tak Boleh

HOW A FAMILY OF INCOME RM3,000 SURVIVE IN MALAYSIA??????????

Let's do some simple calculations here.In Malaysia , the average family income isRM3,000 /month (where father works, mother doesn't).I understand there are many families whose monthly income does not reach RM3,000, but, to make things simple, let's take RM3,000as the figure. Ok lah, right?
Okay, let's start rolling with a family which has Papa, Mama, 1 daughter and 1 son. Ngam-ngam ....Calculation starts...
Electricity and water bill:RM100 (No air-con, No home theatre, No water heater ... ok?)
Phone bill ( Telekom): RM100 (Internet streamxy RM68 + land line RM25 = RM93, round-up to RM100 la)
Meals for a happy family: RM775 (3 meals on RM25/day 4 persons. Forget about makan in restaurant ya)
Papa makan / teh-tarik during working hrs: RM155 (RM5/day, RM5 ... can eat what?)
Car repayment: RM400 (A proton saga aeroback, 7 yrs repayment)Petrol (living in city, traffic-jam) :RM300 (go to work, bring son to school, only can afford one car running. NO YET CONSIDER PETROL INCREASE 40.8%)
Insurance: RM650 (Kids, wife and self. Forget about insurance la..no money to pay, lets drop it)House repayment: RM750 (low cost housing repayment for 30 yrs, retired still have to work to pay!)
Tuition:RM80 (got that cheap meh? i don't think so)
Older children pocket money @ school: RM20 (RM1/day, eat bread?)School fees: RM30 (enough ah?)
School books and etc: RM100 (always got extra to pay in school)
Younger children milk powder: RM50 (cannot have the DHA, BHA, PHA one, expensive)
Miscellaneous:RM100 (shampoo, rice, sauce, toilet paper, saman, etc)

Oh wait!!! I have to stop here, so...No Astro, no movie @ cinema,no DVD,no CD,no toys no computer,no KFC, no McDonald,no insuranceno jalan-jalan makan angin (vacation)no chit chat on phone with grandparents, and etc...nothing breaks down for repair Let's use a calculator to total up...

WALAO EH! Shit!RM2,960already...EPF belum potong, income tax lagi........ oledi RM2,960 ....How to survive lah tuan-tuan dan puan-puan sekalian ???Our Deputy Prime Minister asked us to change lifestyle? How to change? Don't eat? Don't work? Don't send children to school and study? Besides that, I believe in Malaysia population, there are millions of rakyat Malaysia which still don't earn RM3,000/month! !! What is this? Inilah Malaysia Boleh...Sorry... it should beMalaysians Boleh, because we're still alive and kicking!!Our politicians must be mad!!!!Please forward and comment boleh or tak boleh. No wonder so many Ah Loong around lah....

MALAYSIA BOLEH!!!!!!!

MALAYSIA MEMANG BOLEH

MALAYSIA MEMANG BOLEH

« The Final Frontier….
Apex Universities »
1 million scouts……
or 1 million idiots in scout uniform??
This was in the news some time ago. Not hot news… but the jist of it is that someone ‘up there’ announced plans to increase the number of scouts in Malaysia from 200,000 to 1 million. My question to the people ‘up there’ is this: Are they planning on having 1 million scouts, or 1,000,000 poor souls who doesn’t know anything at all about scouting dressed in the scout uniform?
I’m not the most qualified person to write something like this…. but who is ever qualified to write a blog post? I’ve been a scout for 9 years and 10 months. 5 years as a scout, 4 years and 10 months as a leader, and 2+ years as a rover scout. (One can be both a leader and a rover at the same time). I haven’t spent very many years in scouting, but I have spent more years in scouting than the average Malaysian scout who enters in secondary I and leaves after secondary V. The success of the scouting movement is not in how many entry-level scouts there are, but in how many of those scouts stay in scouting, and how many of those scouts come back. For scouts to want to stay in scouting after adulthood, or to come back to scouting after they’ve left it, they must be imbibed with the scouting spirit, to have enjoy scouting to the core, to have been bitten by the scouting bug, to live the scout oath and law, not just while they are in uniform, but even when they are out of uniform.
It is easy to dress a person up as a scout. Just throw him a uniform. One can even memorise and recite the scout promise, but that does not always make one a scout. Just ask yourself if you live by the principles of the rukun negara. We all had to recite the rukun negara when we were in school, but how many of us live by those principles? If we did, if all the people did, if all the people governing our country did, then we would have a clean and fair judiciary. Do we? I’m not going to talk about the judiciary now, I’m just using it to illustrate a point.
The scouting bug, the scouting spirit, isn’t as simple as reciting a promise. Not even attending and completing a woodbadge course during a tenure in a maktab perguruan can make a true scout out of a teacher. And the knowledge passed on from these teachers to the scouts will not make the scouts scouts, not unless the teacher has been inbibed with the scouting spirit.
In order to increase the number of scouts in this country to 1 million, the country would need 125,000 scout leaders (I’m using the 8:1 scout:leader ratio). To be a scout leader, one needs more than a woodbadge. One needs scouting experience. Scouting is more than uniform and a promise. Scouting is about loving nature, about understanding the patrol system and implementing it, about camps and hikes, about breating, eating and living the scout promise, about teamwork, leadership, cooperation, about passing on knowledge from one generation to the next, about being independent, about knowing how to play when its playtime, to work when its worktime to know what is good for oneself, and what is bad. Voluntarism is a very important part of scouting. Volunteer scout leaders participate in scouting because they enjoy scouting, because the are happy when scouting knowledge and spirit gets passed on to the next generation. Volunteer scout leaders never every get monetary returns, they do scouting because they have the BP spirit deep in their hearts.
Can mass production produce the same result as the scouting bug? Can monetary incentives produce the same result as years of enjoyment, years of happiness and experience gained from scouting? Can mass produced scouts really be called scouts? It is easy to dress-up. It is not so easy to be a true scout.

got this from one of the bloggers.. found it by accident.. lol~~
